Search for missing boy intensifies

Read Friday's update in the search for Harley Dilly herePORT CLINTON — About 75 first responders aided by two helicopters and dogs pressed the search Thursday for a missing 14-year-old boy. Port Clinton police chief Rob Hickman described Harley Dilly as "just a normal kid," during a news conference Thursday. He spoke, directing some of his comments to the teenager."Harley, you're not in trouble. You need to come home now. Just reach out. It's time to come home," Hickman said. The boy had a disagreement with his parents Friday and has been missing since then. Hickman said his parents took away an electronic device as a punishment, and Harley felt they were being unfair. Hickman said officers from the U.S. Marshal's office, the State Patrol, the sheriff's office, Port Clinton fire and EMS and the police department along with agents from the U.S. Border Patrol were in the area near the school and elsewhere searching for Harley. About 12 dogs also are being used in the search, including cadaver dogs, Hickman said. He said searches are concentrating in a 150-acre area southeast of the family home. The Border Patrol and the State Patrol had helicopters in the air, he said. Hickman said at a 3 p.m. news conference police have no leads."I don't know where Harley is," he said. Hickman said the family has been very cooperative and allowed police to search the home. A $4,000 reward is being offered for information that will lead to finding Harley, police announced on Wednesday. Police looked at video from surveillance and released a still shot from a camera situated "in the area between Harley's residence on East 5th Street and the high school and middle school campus." A release from police cited "the sensitive nature of this investigation" as the reason for not being precise about the location. Police have reviewed numerous hours of surveillance video, according to the release.The still comes from a video recorded between 6 and 7 a.m. Friday. Harley's family reported him missing at 11:50 p.m. Saturday after he did not return home from school on Friday. "WE are planning an Emergency Services search in the upcoming days once ALL video has been reviewed and ask that you please be patient and allow us that time," the release, which police posted at Facebook, states."WE understand this is a 14-year-old child and are exhausting every effort to locate Harley and reunite him with his family." Harley is 4-foot, 9-inches tall and weighs about 100 pounds. He has brown hair and green eyes. Anyone with information is asked to call 419-734-3121.
