Project Noelle seeks helpProject Noelle, a local charity that helps children affected by the drug addiction crisis, is asking local people to step up for Christmas.The group recently got a boost when Haylie Hamons, a senior at Willard High School, organized a bake sale and auction that raised $660, all of which she donated to Project Noelle."Haylie, you are an inspiration and we are so very grateful for you," said Evelyn Quinn, who is active with Project Noelle.Project Noelle is asking local residents to provide Christmas presents for children from families affected by the drug crisis."Many grandparents, family members and single parents need extra help during the holidays. Some of the parents are either in active addiction, incarcerated or have passed," Quinn said."They apply and give the child's age, clothing and shoe size and a few items on their wish list. We ask the donors to give what they can," she said."It is not too late to adopt a local child. We have had a lot of last-minute requests for assistance from grandparents. Many do not have internet nor are they on Facebook and heard about our program from friends and neighbors," Quinn said."Adopt a Child" boards with information about children who could use presents are available at multiple locations. In Erie County, they are at Jax Bar, The Sanctuary, Sandusky Self Storage, Butler Glass, Harbor House Bar and Grill in Huron and Count Me In in Milan.Ottawa County locations are West Harbor Dental, Miller boat line, Dawn's Folly, Marblehead Soap Factory, Port Clinton Bible Methodist Church, Port Clinton Fire Department, Ala Carte Cafe in Port Clinton and JTS Catawba Cafe. So I decided to avoid it after I heard special effects were used to make Robert De Niro look younger when playing hitman Frank Sheehan at earlier points of his life.But I've heard from several people that movie postulates that Sheehan and a conspirator dropped their wives off at a restaurant in Port Clinton before boarding a private plane at a local airport.Sheehan flew to Detroit to meet Hoffa and then killed him in the home where they first met.— Michael HarringtonLove for musicCevin StanleyAfter Sandusky resident Cevin Stanley was tragically murdered this past Sunday, I sat down to talk with his fiancé, Shelley, following a court hearing for the murder suspects.During our conversation, Shelley told me Cevin loved rap and was a hip hop artist himself — he was known as Swaze and released tracks on Soundcloud.I don't claim to be the most knowledgable person about rap/hip hop, but I largely enjoy and appreciate the genre.I looked up Cevin's Soundcloud and listened to some of his stuff, and I thought it was very good. He refuses to directly answer questions from his hometown newspapers, pawning that task off to his communications director, the aptly named Ian Fury. And Fury only provides prepared talking points, which are more predictable every time we get a news release from Washington.Fury sometimes graciously allows the talking points to be attributed to Rep. Jordan, but if you're a viewer of 24-news networks chances are you've already heard the quotes. At times, Jordan's statements are very clearly lifted from staff prepared talking points.Here's what Fury sent us o Tuesday, attributable to Jordan (stop me if you've heard this before). "The announcement of articles of impeachment by Speaker Pelosi this morning is the product of a baseless attempt to upend the will of the people less than 11 months before the next election.
