Murder suspects arraigned

SANDUSKY — Two people accused of being involved in a fatal stabbing Sunday in Perkins Township made their first court appearances Tuesday.Demetrius Hall, 28, and Tausha Patch, 33, both of Fremont, were arraigned by Judge Erich O'Brien in Sandusky Municipal Court at 10:30 a.m. via video feed from the Erie County Jail, where both are incarcerated.Hall is charged with murder, and Patch is charged with complicity to murder — both first-degree felonies — relating to the Sunday night slaying of Sandusky resident Cevin Stanley, 32, at the Golden Corral on Milan Road.Hall allegedly stabbed Stanley to death outside the restaurant — where Stanley worked — following an argument inside. Patch allegedly "aided and abetted" Hall when they left the scene in a vehicle, O'Brien said.Both suspects were arrested in Fremont Monday afternoon through collaboration between Erie and Sandusky County law enforcement agencies.O'Brien read both suspects their charges and gave each of them a bond of $1 million. The judge told both Patch and Hall the process of how to get a public defender to represent them, and scheduled new hearings for them this Friday.'Justice for Cevin'Shelley Siddell and Cevin Stanley, in a Facebook photo dated Aug. 23, 2018. He leaves behind three children, ages 9, 2 and 6 months."(Cevin's) son, who's 2, he's waiting for his dad to walk through his door," Siddell said. "I don't know how to tell him he's not."She said she and Cevin had been together since 2016. He had a love for rap and recorded and released tracks under the name Swaze.Cevin Stanley released rap tracks on Soundcloud under the name Swaze and account name swazeeky. "It was a big stress relief for him," Siddell said.On Monday evening, friends and family gathered for a vigil at Golden Corral, organized by his co-workers, which Siddell said she was thankful for."Every (parking) spot was filled," said Siddell's mother, Victoria Trumbull. "He knew a lot of people, a lot of people who loved him."The restaurant has since reopened, a spokesman said. Siddell said that if she could speak to the suspects, she'd "just want to know why.""You just took a great man from his kids and family for some dumb reason," she said. "We will not stop until there's justice for Cevin," she said.Chris Harrison, Cevin's brother-in-law, said he hopes "justice is served" for Cevin and his family."I'm shocked. Cevin was such a good guy. He was a family man, Cevin's family is very tight, very close," Harrison said. "People are flying across the country to be here for the funeral."He added: "His youngest kid turned 6 months old yesterday. With Christmas being in two weeks, it's going to be hard."Harrison said he was surprised how quickly authorities made arrests in the case."Being from Cincinnati, there are a lot of murders that don't get solved," he said.
