Area businesses honored for safety

SANDUSKY — Multiple area businesses were recently recognized for their employee safety track record. Ohio Governor Mike DeWine and the Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation honored eight businesses with the bureaus' 100 percent Award at the Ohio Safety Council award ceremony this week."A healthy workforce is crucial to ensuring that Ohio's economy remains strong, and I applaud these businesses for their commitment to workplace safety," DeWine said. "These Sandusky employers have demonstrated a commitment to safety, and I congratulate them on this special recognition."To receive the award each business went a year without workplace injury or illness that kept workers away for more than one day. Only 33 businesses received the award across the state. The following Sandusky-area businesses received the award:• A.V. Lake Construction Co.• Barnes Nursery Inc.• Busch & Thiem Inc.• Erie MetroParks• Erie Residential Living Inc.• Frank Fox Trucking, Llc.• Huron Lagoons Marina Inc.• Klee & Associates Inc."Running a business is demanding, and I congratulate these employers for understanding there can be no compromising when it comes to workplace safety," bureau CEO Stephanie McCloud said. "Their success in preventing injuries is paying off with this recognition.
