WATCH: That's how you have a paradeI was here for that parade, too, I commented while video recording last Saturday's Bicentennial parade celebrating the city of Sandusky's 200th birthday. A vintage 1960s GTO in the parade had just crossed Columbus Avenue to Water Street, the parade's last leg."It's the 50th anniversary crown," Sandusky's own Miss America, Jackie Mayer, explained, holding the head gear in her hands as she sat atop the GTO's tucked away convertible top behind the muscle car's back seat, wowing to the crowd.That "other" parade, in 1962, was for "our Jackie," after Mayer was named Miss America 1963 in Atlantic City. It was one big parade to welcome home the city's one true crowned royal, our own part of Camelot, the girl who captured America's heart, and all of ours."Maybe once or twice, or a thousand," Mayer quipped, commenting about parades past as this one rounded the corner. "It's been great."Indeed, that was a great parade, both of them.
