Report: Suspect dropped kitten out of van, ran it over

SANDUSKY — A witness told an Erie County sheriff's deputy she saw a motorist drop a kitten out of a van's window and then run it over.The incident occurred in the 5300 block of Old Railroad Road at about 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, according to sheriff's office report.The witness said she saw a kitten dropped out of van's window before the same van ran over the kitten, the report states. She said she tried helping the injured animal, which was trying to crawl but couldn't move its hind legs.The deputy found the animal dead in the street, according to the report.Another motorist told the witness they found another dead kitten further south on Old Railroad Road, and the deputy found that cat also dead, apparently also run over by a car, the report states. The witness told law enforcement she did not get a good look at the van.Law enforcement did not find the suspect vehicle or any other dead kittens in the area.
