New summer experiences open at Cedar Point

Editor's note: Justin Dietz is a Register correspondent representing CPFoodBlog.com and @CPFoodBlog on Twitter.SANDUSKY — When a new Cedar Point season starts, there is a lot of excitement about the newest ride or attraction, like Steel Vengeance.But part of the excitement over the first several weeks, and even months, is seeing new things come online.Take, for example, the new expanded boardwalk, which now connects the front parking lot all the way to the rear parking lot.It's believed that escorted bike rides on the boardwalk have not happened on the property since 1905. New for 2018, however, Cedar Point introduced Boardwalk Cruisers, two-seat bicycle rides along the Cedar Point Beach.Guests board the new cruisers at either end of the boardwalk and, for $5 in each direction, can have their tour guide slowly take them to the opposite end. Classic yet modern.Cedar Point celebrated the new Boardwalk Cruisers by giving Susan, the great-niece of George Boeckling, one of Cedar Point's early founders, and her colleagues, who work at the beach admission gate, the inaugural ride.Fire & IceFurther up on the Boardwalk, on the former Oceana Stadium site, work continues in plain sight on a new stage area, which is presumed to be for Cedar Point's new nighttime Fire & Ice show, which features a 12-piece band.Look for the show to open July 5.Peanuts character breakfastsGuests have been clamoring for a Peanuts character breakfast at Cedar Point. It has been offered at several other Cedar Fair properties the past several years.Now guests can reserve tickets to a daily breakfast buffet with Snoopy, Charlie Brown and other friends at Cedar Point. The Breakfast Buffet with the Peanuts Characters takes place daily from 8-9:30 a.m. through Aug. 19 (blackout dates June 23 and Aug. 11) in the Lakeside Pavilion. Vertical ImpactIf you loved the All-Wheels Extreme show that was located in the former Oceana Stadium, the show has been relocated to Celebration Plaza near Iron Dragon. The show combines high energy dancing, music and extreme sports, and includes a "splash" ending.
