Woman flees from police, pulls into jail

FREMONT — A woman wanted for a robbery allegedly led police on a car chase Friday, which ended when she pulled into the jail parking lot.Amy Martin, 38, of the 600 block of Fourth St., Fremont, was charged with burglary, fleeing and eluding, unauthorized use of a vehicle, theft, and aggravated robbery.Police and Sandusky County sheriff's deputies began to search for Martin after she allegedly entered a home to steal money and took the owner's car, according to a Fremont police report.Just after 5 p.m., they found her at a bar on East State Street. But when they arrived, Martin allegedly fled from the scene in the car she took from the home. The officers chased Martin's vehicle.Martin almost lost control as she reached speeds of more than 80 mph and allegedly disobeyed several traffic laws, according to the report. She almost hit a truck and a deputy's cruiser during the pursuit.As authorities continued to chase her at a high rate of speed down Countryside Drive. She eventually pulled in to the Sandusky County jail parking lot, where she was arrested. Her aggravated burglary charge originated from a robbery in the 300 block of E. State St. on March 12. A woman, later identified as Martin, allegedly walked up to the cashier at a fast food restaurant and whispered to open the cash drawer and give her the money. She allegedly said she had a gun and threatened to shoot the cashier, according to a Fremont police report.Martin allegedly took an undetermined amount of cash from the register and fled on foot.
