Report: Woman fired gun inside house

PERKINS TWP. — Perkins police arrested a woman after she allegedly fired a gun into a bedroom's mirror.Catharine Sostre, 34, of the 400 block of North Beverly Drive, was charged with misdemeanor discharging a firearm, resisting arrest, marijuana possession, drug paraphernalia possession and felony having weapons under disability. Police were notified of the incident, which occurred Jan. 15, on Friday, according to a Perkins police report.The complainant told officers Sostre lived in their North Beverly Drive home. On Jan. 15, Sostre allegedly returned to the home and "was out of it," the report stated.Sostre allegedly asked the complainant how many guns were in their home, according to the report. The complainant did not answer Sostre's question, and Sostre went to her bedroom, where minutes later a gunshot was heard.Sostre allegedly told the complainant the gun, a .38 caliber revolver, went off by itself, the report stated.Police checked the room Friday and found a bullet hole in the mirror, which went through into the wall behind it, according to the report.Police then brought Sostre into the police station to talk about the incident.
