James Douglas Marshall

OBERLIN — James Douglas Marshall died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2017, in Kendal in Oberlin, Ohio.He was born July 23, 1924, in La Cumbre, Colombia. Jim graduated from Glen Ridge High School, New Jersey, in 1942. He enlisted in the Navy ROTC at Yale University, graduating with a degree in Industrial Engineering in 1947.After he retired from General Motors, Jim and his wife, Linda, traveled extensively in the United States and internationally. Jim's greatest joy was his family, and he loved visiting his children and grandchildren and spending time with them in the Adirondacks.Jim is survived by his wife, Linda; children, Douglas (Mary), Sally (Philip), Lee (David), and Newton (Susan); nine grandchildren; and his brother, William Marshall.He was preceded in death by his sister, Alice; brother, Thomas; and his parents, Newton and Pauline Marshall.There will be a celebration of his life at 2 p.m. Jan. 14, at Kendal in Oberlin.Memorial contributions may be made to Oberlin Community Services, 285 Professor St., Oberlin, OH 44074, or The Upper Saranac Lake Foundation, P.O.
