Campaign supporting man who 'lost everything' in fire

TOWNSEND TWP. — Family members launched an online fundraising campaign for a Whites Landing man who "lost everything" in a fire this past week.All proceeds from the initiative support Rick Fultz, a man loved ones describe as a caring, generous individual."Not only will he need a new home but a new wardrobe and other essentials as well," according to a post, written by family members, on the GoFundMe page, located online at gofundme.com/4qa1834.The fire, happening within the 5900 block of Fairview Ave. in Vickery, occurred just before 11:30 p.m. Saturday. Prior to first responders arriving, a neighbor rescued Fultz from his home before it burnt to the ground, Townsend fire Chief John Schwochow said.Other departments — including those from Margaretta Township, Bay View and Groton Township — helped extinguish the flames. Authorities suspect a portable kerosene heater sparked the fire.Fultz received treatment at Bellevue Hospital for smoke inhalation and minor burns. Family members said he's still recovering from both the physical and mental trauma."My dad lost his home and everything in it," Fultz's daughter Deborah Fultz said. "He doesn't like to ask for help, but he deserves help in this difficult time. Even if you can't donate, please share and send your love and prayers.
