Boy, 10, gets felony after attack

PERKINS TWP. — Police tackled and arrested a 10-year-old Willard boy who allegedly attacked and threatened to kill school staff.The boy, of Crestwood Drive, was charged with two counts of felony assault, one count of first-degree misdemeanor assault and one count each of disorderly conduct, unruly child and delinquent juvenile.The incident occurred shortly after 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday at North Point Educational Services Center on Galloway Road.An Erie County sheriff's deputy working as the facility's school resource officer responded to the building's main office and witnessed the boy, who is a student at North Point, yelling profanities and making threats to staff, according to an Erie County sheriff's office report.The deputy restrained the student while staff took him down to the floor. Staff members brought the boy into a school crisis aide's classroom and he continued his "combative behavior," the report stated.He was able to free his legs and right arm from restraint and allegedly kicked the shins of staff members and spit on them, and also punched a staff member in the arm, according to the report.The boy eventually calmed down and staff brought the boy into the deputy's office, at which point he allegedly punched and spit on a staff member again and made a death threat, the report stated.Police then told the boy he was being charged.
