UPDATE: 6:15 a.m., today:An ICE agent greeted Jesus Lara Lopez just past the security gates at Hopkins International Airport to board a plane scheduled to leave for Atlanta at about 7 a.m.He was with his family and then walked to the gates by supporters from America's Voice, and advocacy group, and a reporter from Univision, an American Spanish language broadcast television network, which is accompanying him on the flight. ICE agents will meet Lopez Lara in Atlanta, where he will board a plane bound for Mexico. U.S. Rep. Bob Gibbs, R-Lakeville, whose district includes Willard, and Ohio's Republican U.S. senator, Rob Portman did not return calls asking them if they intended to reach out to U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Tom F. Kelly and ask him to stay the deportation.Kelly also could not be reached and did not immediately return a message left for him asking whether he intended to use his discretion to stay the order. An attorney representing Jesus Lara Lopez said during a news conference on Monday it is not too late for the two lawmakers and Kelly to take action."They can always do the right thing," attorney David Leopold said. "They have the broad authority to do the right thing up to the last second."Lara Lopez's pleas have been met with a "stony silence (from them)," he said.Lara Lopez has paid his taxes every year, provided for his family and contributed to his community, Leopold said."He is exactly the kind of immigrant America has always supported," Leopold said.The time to take action is now, he said. "When you have the opportunity to step up and do the right thing you should step up," the mayor said.Dustin White, Canton-area pastor, who also attended the news conference on Monday, said people of faith are called to support the Lara Lopez family, and called "to stand up against an unjust law.""As a pastor, I believe that family is sacred. A law that needlessly rips hard-working parents from their children is unjust. Jesus Lara's children need their father at home. We cannot just accept these laws. Now is the time for Sen. Portman and Rep. Gibbs to join the community of faith as advocates of this family," White said. "This is the final hour for Senator Portman and Representative Gibbs to show moral courage."Lara Lopez and his two of his sons also spoke during the news conference. "I want to ask people to keep supporting me and my family. I am not a criminal, I'm a father, and all I want to do is keep fighting for my family so that we can go forward together. God said that we shouldn't separate families, but man is the one doing it," Lara Lopez said. "I came here for a better life, and President Trump is killing my dreams."Edwin Lara, 11, said, "I've been fighting for my dad, because we need him right now. My brothers, sister and I are too little to be without him."Anuar Lara, 9, said, "I want the government to help my dad.
