Sandusky's Ja'Vez Alexander verbals to Michigan State

SANDUSKY — One day was all it took for Sandusky senior-to-be Ja'Vez Alexander to sit on his latest offer to play college football.On Wednesday night, Alexander — a second-team All-Ohio quarterback for the Blue Streaks as a junior — announced on Twitter that he was committed to play football for Michigan State University.The Spartans reached out to Alexander and offered him a scholarship Tuesday. According to Alexander, it was his first offer from a Power Five program, and seventh Division I offer overall with others coming from Army, Eastern Kentucky, Bowling Green, Air Force, Holy Cross and Georgetown.Though quarterback is Alexander's main position, Michigan State wants him as wide receiver. At 6-foot-2, 195 pounds, Alexander has some options to move around the field.This past season, Alexander threw for 1,779 yards and 21 TDs. He also ran for 999 yards and 12 TDs in the regular season, helping guide the Blue Streaks to a 9-1 record and an outright Northern Ohio League title and home playoff win.
