Woman allegedly spits on police officer after arrest

SANDUSKY — A Sandusky woman is facing several criminal charges after she allegedly threatened another woman, was seen drunk behind the wheel of car, kicked cars parked on the street, resisted arrest and spat on a police officer.Ashlei D. Palmer, 27, 300 block of High St., was booked into Erie County Jail on charges of OVI, driving under suspension, two separate incidents of resisting arrest, criminal damaging to a car, assault on a police officer (the spitting incident), disorderly conduct in an emergency room and disorderly conduct while intoxicated.Officer Stephen Rittenbach wrote in his report that he was dispatched to the High Street address on the report of an assault. When he arrived, he listened on speakerphone as a woman on the other end of the line threatened the woman in the house and cursed her.Rittenbach looked out the front door and saw Palmer driving up to the house. She could be seen putting her phone down. When a witness explained to Rittenbach that Palmer was the woman who had been making the phone call, Rittenbach walked outside and watched Palmer jump from the driver's seat to the back seat of the car. When Rittenbach walked up to the car, Palmer denied having a phone and attempted to hide it with her foot, the officer wrote.When Palmer was arrested, she allegedly lunged toward a car and kicked it and then lunged toward another car. Two police officers managed to place her inside a police car, where she kicked the cruiser door and partition.When she was taken to the hospital to provide a urine sample, Palmer spat in Rittenbach's face and began kicking doors in the hospital and fighting the staff. Nurses and hospital security were able to restrain her.
