Driver flips vehicle, lands OVI

MARGARETTA TWP. — An intoxicated driver flipped her vehicle early Saturday.Tiffany N. Whiting, 29, of Marblehead, was treated for non-incapacitating injuries at Firelands Regional Medical Center, according to reports through the Erie County Sheriff's Office. Deputies charged her with operating a vehicle while intoxicated, failing to control her vehicle and driving under suspension.The report indicates that Whiting's license was under an OVI-related suspension at the time of the crash.The crash occurred on the 1000 block of Ohio 269 around 2:50 a.m. Whiting was driving a Chrysler Sebring northbound when she veered off the east side of the road. The vehicle struck a culvert and continued through a ditch, finally coming to a stop on its roof.Whiting said she managed to get out of the vehicle and walk to a nearby residence. When she saw a deputy arrive, she approached him and explained what happened.Whiting told the deputy that she had been on her way to pick up friends from a bar in Bellevue when she lost control. (The report indicates that she was not heading in the right direction for this.)
