Man faces charges after threatening to shoot officers during arrest

PERKINS TWP. — Perkins police say a city resident grabbed for an officer's Taser and threatened to shoot them during a tumultuous arrest Sunday.Samuel Guevara, 68, faces two counts of resisting arrest and one of aggravated menacing against a police officer. Jail records indicate Guevara was released after a night in custody.Two Perkins officers headed to Guevara's home, on the 100 block of Bell Ave., around 4 a.m, according to a Perkins police report. They learned from Guevara's brother, who has the same listed address, that Guevara became upset when his brother asked him to turn down his music.The brother told police Guevara threatened to hurt him, according to the report. That prompted the brother to lock himself in a bathroom and contact police.Guevara admitted the threat to officers, according to the report. Then, apparently riled up again, he grabbed a kitchen chair and attempted to throw it at his brother.Police stepped in at this point to arrest Guevara, but Guevara resisted and fought against the officers, according to the report. At some point in the struggle, Guevara reportedly grabbed at an officer's Taser and threatened to shoot them. The Taser remained stuck in its holster on the officer's belt.Both officers indicated in their report that they believed Guevara, whom the report indicates is legally blind, thought he had a grip on the officer's firearm when he made the threat.Samuel Guevara
