Fremont woman shot dead in home; man charged with murder

FREMONT — Fremont police charged a city man with murder after he reportedly shot and killed a woman.Just after 1 a.m. Sunday, officers responding to a 911 call entered a home within the 700 block of Willow St. to find Gabriella Rojas, 26, dead.Authorities then detained Mauricio E. Valois-Perez, 30, for questioning and, shortly thereafter, processed a murder charge against him.It's believed Valois-Perez and Rojas were in a relationship and had at least one child together.As of late Sunday, he remained locked up in the Sandusky County jail on a no bond order. Jail records indicate this is his first major criminal offense in the county.Sunday's shooting marks the second violent crime in Fremont transpiring in three days. On Friday, police charged city resident Dennis Gardner, 29, with attempted murder after he allegedly stabbed an 85-year-old man, who continues to recover."Unfortunately, we have had two tough incidents recently," Fremont police Chief Dean Bliss said.
