A division of the Ohio Environmental Protection Association will hold a public meeting before renewing a permit allowing a local company to treat and store hazardous waste.
EPA staff will present information and answer questions about issues surrounding the renewal of an expiring permit for Vickery Environmental on Oct. 27 at 6:30 p.m. at the Townsend Township Volunteer Fire Department in Vickery. A public hearing will immediately follow to allow the public to submit comments for the record regarding the draft permit.
A draft of a new permit would authorize the company to store up to 1.085 million gallons of waste per day and up to 126 million gallons of waste per year before storing it in four deep, underground wells.
The placement of waste in the wells requires a different permit from a separate Ohio EPA division.
Written comments may also be sent to Ohio EPA, Division of Materials and Waste Management, Attn: Dustin Tschudy, Section, P.O. Box 1049, Columbus, OH 43216-1049; faxed to (614) 728-5366; or emailed to email@example.com.
