Last week a wonderful lady passed away after a long battle with cancer. Her name was Mary Ann Sloan. She was a dear friend and classmate of mine. She worked for many years at Sandusky Central Catholic High School in the office.

All through her life, she was ready to help anyone who asked. My friends and I were in the funeral procession. As we turned from Decatur Street toward SMCC High School, and were near the school, on the left side of the street facing the funeral procession, were the high school seniors standing at attention. They were dressed in dark slacks, white shirts and ties. On the opposite side of the street were many students also facing the procession. Mary Ann would have been so very happy. What a great tribute! It was a very tearful sight, but so impressive. There were so many friends and relatives in the church as we walked in. Afterwards, the commons area was filled with people sitting down to a wonderful lunch made by the ladies of the church. All we hear about lately are the bad things that happen in life. That day was a beautiful day as we left our friend to be with our Heavenly Father. I hope we all will be able to leave this world knowing that we were loved by so many.
