The career of Sandusky Police Officer Todd Suarez came to an end because of injuries he received while on duty. The membership of the Fraternal Order of Police Lake Erie Lodge 17 would like to publicly acknowledge Todd’s dedicated service to the Sandusky Police Department and the citizens of Sandusky.

Todd was just doing his job in a professional manner, when he was injured. The injury was a result of a struggle with a participant in a domestic situation. Although the man “did not mean” for Todd to be injured, the fact still remains that he was, and now must pay for it by losing his career, financial stability and possible his leg in the future.

One must wonder what the outcome would have been if the suspect was injured during the struggle and faced the same problems that Todd is now facing. One thing that is correct is the fact that there were no winners as a result of this. One just lost more than the other.

So if you see Todd out and about, offer him a handshake and a “thank-you.” If you are not sure it’s Todd, just ask him a question. If the answer is followed by a “yes sir” or “yes ma’am,” that’s him. He treats everybody like that.
