Ava’s Labor of Love Benefit has been changed to a one-day event, to be held 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Aug. 30, and the venue has been changed to Waterworks Park, at the corner of Perry and Jefferson streets in Port Clinton.
Activities include a classic car show, music, raffles and a 50/50 drawing. Food will be available for purchase, and monetary donations will be accepted throughout the day.
Ava’s Labor of Love Benefit was organized to raise money to offset the expenses associated with Ava Arnold’s treatment for Alper’s-Huttenlocher Syndrome, a very rare, aggressive and progressive genetic neurodegenerative disorder. The syndrome has no known cure and causes liver failure, dementia, severe seizures and overall regression in muscle tone.
Ava Arnold, 18 months, passed away while preparations for the event were being made, and the day will now serve the dual purpose of raising money and celebrating the life of baby Ava.
