UPDATE 9 a.m.: Reports from the Put-in-Bay police are that a boy missing since 2 a.m. Thursday has been found unharmed. Check back here for updates.
Update 8:30 a.m.: The Put-in-Bay police are chasing several leads in the disappearance of a 15-year-old boy who's been missing since about 2 a.m. Thursday.
One lead is that Carter Pugh left the island at 10 a.m. Thursday on the Jet Express to Sandusky, police said.
Erie County sheriff's deputies, Sandusky police and Cedar Point police searched for him on the mainland. The Cedar Point police were involved because it was believed Carter might have met friends at the park on Thursday.
The lead went cold, according to the Put-in-Bay police.
Other leads are being reviewed, according to a PIB police Facebook post.
"The Put-in-Bay Police is reaching out to members of the community, especially Carter's friends to help locate Carter," the PIB police post stated.
Update, 10 p.m. Aug. 7, 2014:
Carter Pugh, a resident of South Bass Island, was last seen around 2 a.m. on Catawba Avenue near Cameo Pizza, police said.
The employee said a bloodhound was used to track the boy's scent and the canine led searchers up to Erie Street to the Beer Barrel housing area.
Family members think there's a chance he might have taken the Jet Express to Sandusky to go to Cedar Point but his cell phone has been off all day since he went missing.The boy's father is in Sandusky searching for his son, the hotel employee said.
Residents are using ATV and motocross cycles to search vineyards and fields on the island.
The teen was possibly wearing light-colored shorts, a T-shirt, dark-colored sweatshirt and was carrying a black book bag, police said.
He left his home on the island at about midnight, police said.
Put-in-Bay firefighters organized the search, which began at 6 p.m. Thursday.
