Eight new cameras to watch over Huron

Huron residents can take great comfort in knowing that multiple cameras are watching them as they roam some parts of the city.

Or maybe, it'll just creep them out.

Either way it's a done deal -- city council recently approved the $41,275 purchase of eight security cameras to beef up surveillance in key locations.

The cameras will be placed at the police department and city hall on Main Street, and also near the Huron River Boat Basin.

"It was terribly dangerous to let your thoughts wander when you were in any public place or within range of a telescreen. The smallest thing could give you away. A nervous tic, an unconscious look of anxiety, a habit of muttering to yourself--anything that carried with it the suggestion of abnormality, of having something to hide. In any case, to wear an improper expression on your face...; was itself a punishable offense. There was even a word for it in Newspeak: facecrime..."

How do i prescibe to all these local camera's to view them? They need to put them up in sandusky too and charge small fee's to see them, Sort like a local pay per view. We can see the grimy underbelly of society kicking the crap out of each other for 29.99 a month instead of one time 50 dollar charge for a boxing match. It might help bring money back into our city "come watch shootings, ravenous children beating people up in their front yards, tourist with road rage and many many more!!"  Heaven forbid they actually spend some money on a school or somthing.

Great!!   Now the "Napolean" in charge can watch his parking space to make sure a Sandusky Police cruiser isn't using it!!

GREAT IDEA!    YOU NIMNALS CAN SURE  COME UP WITH DANDY IDEAS TO SPEND YOUR TAXPAYERS MONEY.  OR DID OBAMA SEND YOU SOME (FREE) GRANT MONEY.

1)  NOW THE POLICE CAN WATCH THE DRUNKS FALL IN THE RIVER FROM THE POLICE DEPARTMENT. USE THEIR BIKE PATROL OR WALK A BEAT FROM TIME TO TIME. THEY CAN STILL CHAT ON THEIR CELL PHONES WHILE DOING ALL OF THAT.

2) THE CAMERAS WILL SPIN THEMSELVES TO DESCRUCTION WHEN THE FAMOUS RIVERFEST, AND ALL OF THE MANY WEEKEND SUMMER EVENTS ARE GOING ON.

3) HOW MANY TIMES HAS THERE BEEN ISSUES AT THE BOAT LAUNCING RAMP? WHY NOT HAVE THE POLICE CIRCLE THE RAMP AREA LOOKING FOR TROUBLE MAKERS, WHILE THEY PARK, RUNNING RADAR AT THE ENTRANCE OF THE RAMP AND ORE DOCKS. OR WHILE THEY DRIVE ALONG CLEVELAND ROAD eAST FOLLOWING CARS AND RUNNING TAGS.

4) WHY NOT PUT THEM ON THE RIVER BRIDGE AND BERLIN ROAD AT THE TRACKS AND LOOK FOR SPEEDERS. THAT WOULD FREE UP OFFICERS TIME FOR BASIN PATROL.

The only question I have is, why is there only one lower case letter in old dogs' comment, and why is that one letter  in particular? Is it some sort of code?

Maybe they should consider putting cameras in the cruisers themselves..Yep, no dash cams, so the nice Mr. Policeman can FABRICATE the report and who's going to know. It becomes an "I say/ they say" saga. Who do you think is going to win THAT battle???

What a freekin waste of money!  What idiot in Huron brought this up? Like this is going to stop all the crime going on daily in town.  Watch yourself Huronites.  Big Brother is watching so don't pick your nose or scratch your behind.  Where is the vidio being stored?  Perhaps we can call it up from the cloud in twenty years and see what we looked like when we were young.  Caution!  Don't take a romantic walk with your mistress or it will be evidence in court.

I for one will give the cameras the finger everytim I'm in the area.

So what if cameras are watching the public places. If you're not doing anything wrong, it will prove it if you get hauled into court on trumped-up charges! More idiots are on facebook and other networking sites than we're going to see on these little ole cameras. I want a camera and a stop bump at Jim Campbell Boulevard and Center street to stop the morons who ignore the stop sign. Where are the police when that crime is happening???

New cameras are for watching motherships and goofy people with tin foil hats running around Huron.
