Three people aboard motorcycles were injured in a crash at the drawbridge in Port Clinton Sunday morning, but none of the injuries were serious, an Ohio Highway Patrol trooper said.

Glenn Gatt, 55, Belleville, Mich., and Sharon Hughes, 60, Wixom, Mich., both were taken to Magruder Hospital in Port Clinton, treated for their injuries, and released the same day, said Trooper Shane Zehnder. Kelly Teifer, 46, Belleville, a passenger on Gatt's motorcycle, suffered minor injuries.

Zehnder said the accident occurred at 10 a.m. Sunday. A group of eight motorcycles were on Ohio 163 and were on the drawbridge over the Portage River in Port Clinton when Gatt lost control of his motorcycle on the wet surface of the steel bridge. He went left of center, overturned, and slid right of center, forcing Hughes to take evasive action. She also went down. The two motorcycles never actually hit each other, Zehnder said.

He said the bikes were traveling at about 20 m.p.h. when the accident occurred.
