A   local artist is releasing his first album on Valentine’s Day.

Eddie Banks, 20, of Sandusky, is debuting Catch Fire under his own music label, Rude Boy Music Group. The album is a mix of R&B, rock, reggae, soul and inspirational. The first single to be released on Valentine’s Day is its title track, “Catch Fire,” a live set for the rock song which captures the energy of the performance.

“I am excited” Eddie said.

He’s getting guidance, and some production help, from his father, Edward Banks, who wrote the music for the album and helped produce it. Edward played in a band named Rude Boys, for which Eddie named his label, as a nod to his father. Edward and his band performed with R&B singer Gerald Levert in the early 1990s. The father and son have now teamed up to make Catch Fire together. “I count it as a blessing, for him to choose music is a blessing” Edward said.

“I am glad he chose it because I am able to help him” Edward said.

Eddie sings vocals and wrote the lyrics to the songs.

Co-owning a recording studio, Lake Side Studio, which he owns with Gabriel Mariscal and Adolfo JJ Moreno III, gave Eddie an economic advantage, since he did not have to pay for studio time to record the album.

The album can be found on iTunes, the Sound Cloud website and at Lake Side Studio.

They are preparing for a college tour of area schools, including Bowling Green State University’s main campus, Cleveland State, Ohio University and University of Toledo. Dates for these shows have not been set yet, but will probably be before May.
