Sawmill Creek Resort plans to officially open an outdoor ice skating rink in few days, but for now the resort is offering a sneak preview.

Ice skating will be offered on a pond behind Mulligan's Pub by the green for the ninth hole of the golf course, said Greg Hill, Sawmill Creek's owner.

Next week, after the pond's surface has been prepared, Sawmill Creek will begin charging admission and renting skates for a reasonable price to people who need them, Hill said.

This week, anyone who wants to can bring their own skates and try the pond, which formed thick ice during this week's cold snap, Hill said.

The frozen pond will be open to skaters as of today.

No specific times have been scheduled — just show up and skate.
