Gas prices up but still less than 2012

Ohio’s gas prices have risen closer to the national average after dipping during the second week of the partial government shutdown.

The state average was $3.30 for a gallon of regular gas in Monday’s survey from auto club AAA, the Oil Price Information Service and WEX Inc. That’s up 8 cents from last week but still well below the cost a year ago, when the average was $3.64.

The national average was about $3.34 Monday. It’s down a penny from a week ago and 45 cents less than the average at this time last year.

If the budget impasse and government shutdown drag on, it’s expected to decrease demand for energy and lead to lower fuel prices. That would benefit drivers but also signal a weak economy.

Darwin's choice

Yay, I'm so fricking happy to only be paying $3.30 a gallon (sorry, it was raised last nite to $3.50).
