The Clinton Street woman first had problems with her ex-boyfriend after she left her five children with him over the weekend while she worked, according to a Sandusky police report.
She suspected nothing after the weekend, but on Wednesday noticed his cell phone had “pinged” off towers in Cleveland and Elyria — during times when he was supposed to be babysitting.
The woman questioned two of her children, ages 9 and 7, and they said the man paid them $5 to watch their younger siblings. The man also warned the older children not to tell their mother, the report said.
When the woman confronted him about it Wednesday afternoon, he yelled at her and threatened to take their son out of the state, the report said. He then packed his belongings into her 2012 Honda Accord and, despite her protests, drove off with the car.
The woman also told police the ex-boyfriend took her debit card, to which he charged $500 for a medical bill.
