Bellevue police received notification of an alarm at Bellevue Animal Hospital just after midnight Wednesday, then asked Sandusky County deputies to provide assistance with their police dog, Brutus.

Unsure if the suspect was still inside, deputies used the police dog to search the building, but they found no one inside. It was apparent, however, the burglar had tampered with the safe, which was lying damaged on the floor. In reviewing security footage, deputies saw someone enter the business and ransack it before the alarm activated and they left.

Brutus set out on a second search to try to track the suspect and search for possible evidence, but eventually he lost the trail.

Bellevue police also investigated an attempted break-in the previous evening.

If I were the vet I would sleep there over night with a loaded gun.

They must have been desperate to break into an animal hospital. Chances are they needed money for drugs. Drugs are ruining our nation.

Chances are they were looking for drugs!
