MLK ‘I have a dream’ march set for Saturday

A student will recite Dr. Martin Luther King’s “I have a dream” speech Saturday after a march to the gazebo in Washington Park to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the historic March on Washington.

Jmarsion Owens will speak King’s iconic words, which the Civil Rights leader delivered on Aug. 28, 1963, in front of an estimated 250,000 supporters.

The Sandusky NAACP is hosting the local march. For information contact Jim Jackson, president of the Sandusky Unit of the NAACP, at 419-625-5056 or at 419-370-6806.

Jackson and Sandusky resident Dan Leavall will be the guests at noon Friday on Between the Lines Live at, to talk about the march, the commemoration and how Sandusky has changed during the last five decades.
