Was still holding bloody knife when help was called

A 25-year-old Pennsylvania man is recovering after a suicide attempt Saturday evening in the parking lot of Wal-Mart on East Harbor Road.

Joshua Rockwell suffered severe lacerations to his left arm, Ottawa County Sherif Steve Levorchick said. He was holding a bloody knife as he began asking people to call 911.

Rockwell, a military veteran, was in the area for the National shooting matches at Camp Perry.

He was transported from Magruder Hospital to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center where staff said Monday morning that Rockwell is stable in good condition.

Levorchick said a  friend told deputies that Rockwell had left a note at Camp Perry that could be thought of as a suicide note. The friend also said Rockwell has attempted suicide previously.

Why do you keep posting your mug shot? Are you proud of it or something?

.............I have no patience people who believe in obvious whacked out things.

You must have an extremely difficult time looking in the mirror in the morning.

I always love how people who have never worn the uniform seem to believe they are experts in veterans affairs. The truth is the politicians for both parties could care less about veterans. They sing them praises when they are off fight THEIR wars. They quickly forget about them when they return with their limbs blown off and are suicidal. The politicians in Washington should be ashamed of themselves. I will say one good thing about Obama though, he had been a supporter of spending more on veterans care. The problem is that nothing that would increase funding can make it through Harry Reid.

...........................................I doubt that . I know the Republicans don't care , they care about money and how much they can hoard away for themselves.

Why Do Republicans ALWAYS Vote AGAINST Soldiers and Veterans?

you're probably right but I doubt the dems would do much better. barry and Hillary would leave him to die. just ask our four americans in Benghazi. wait, we cant. they're dead..

shucks

Bush and Cheney did such a great job on 9 /11.
Just ask the 2,977 people in New York.
Oh wait , we can't , they're dead.

Love the Bush derangement syndrome, never mind that the moral reprobate could have taken out Bin Laden several times but stood down, seems stand down is the favorite command of leftists.

shucks

Rambling nonsense.

so.....

Bill clinton had the same offer. He also declined. He a leftist too??? I think you all have it wrong. It's not democrats who are bad. Its not republicans who are bad. Its POLITICIANS who put themselves above the people they are meant to serve. NONE of them care about any of us.

If someone wants to commit suicide, I say let them. There are a lot of people alive today, especially in America, that are wastes of resources, and if somebody is willing to help make the freeway flow faster, I say let them.

"The friend also said Rockwell has attempted suicide previously."

Joshua is a US Marine veteran who served in Iraq in 2007. He was a machine gunner and received several medals including the Purple Heart and Bronze Star.

Many of the veterans are coming home from the war and need help. War is hell. I hope that this young man gets the help that he needs.

I agree, having several veterans in the game community I have spoken to them about their experiences and it isn't that they are unimaginable, it is that unless it actually happens to/around you there is no real comparison. No matter how realistic Call of Duty is or even how vivid an in-person story of a battle goes. Unless YOU are being shot at or an inch away from triggering a booby trap that would have your remains mailed home in an envelope...there is no comparison.

I remember one story involved X bringing a fellow soldier (Y) to the field surgeon who looked over Y, turned to X and said "you can't sew hamburger back into a cow", and handed X a morphine application to administer to ease Y's pain into death.

Big deal. He was also convicted of DUI in Pennsylvania. If the government refuses to help, then a veteran attempts to help himself/herself to find relief.

Don't blame a veteran or any person for that matter if they find relief in drugs. I have studied drug abuse and use and have vast knowledge about legal and illegal drugs.

Legal drugs have the blessing of the DEA and FDA.

With education and knowledge, some illegal drugs could be used safely.

Big Pharma wants to dominate like Al Capone did in Chicago.

Nobody died from cannabis but millions have died from Big Pharma's drugs.

In third world countries, millions of people use plant based drugs to ease body and mental pains safely.

As a health care professional I can tell you that often people in chronic emotional pain and/or physical pain will turn to substances to relieve that pain. Chances are the VA gave him at least one of those drugs. God bless him and thank him for his service, our veterans deserve our admiration and respect not disdain.

Look who's got his foil hat out again!

"Look who's got his foil hat out again!"

I have never worn a tin foil hat but since I have a few rolls of foil, I just might make a tin foil hat for the heck of it. But would it matter to those who are said to wear tin foil hats if their homes have metal roofs, aluminum siding and foil faced insulation? Have you ever noticed all that foil on spacecraft? That foil serves a purpose.

Now here is an idea for those who refuse to wear a tin foil hat and accuse others of wearing foil hats. Head to the nearest public restroom stall and grab a paper toilet seat cover. Don't be a hog and take them all, leave some for others. While you are there, do a #2 since it is all free and at no cost to you. No charge for toilet paper, water or sewer.

If you stay in the stall long enough. Anthony Weiner and Larry Craig might show up.

Here are the directions on how to make a hat from a paper toilet seat cover.

Wear your paper cowboy hat proudly while pointing out those who are said to wear tin foil hats.

what is halfricanaide? what branch of service were you in? how many people have you watched, your own self, go to war and come back? how many commenters know what a soldiers life is like day to day? how did something so tragic get dragged into a cesspool post?

Peninsula Pundit

4Shizzle is correct, for now.
Now that the wars are over, (we hope), it's time to take care of the vets.
The House is controlled by Republicans and as 350 roll calls to repeal Obamacare show, the republicans can get through the house anything it really wants to.
They haven't done a thing for the vets to date and don't appear to want to delay another vote on the repeal of Obamacare to do so.
What is particularly irking is the republicans are always the first to wrap themselves in the flag and glory as to how 'patriotic' they are.
But whenever it comes to a vote to support those vets they so loudly declared they supported when they were overseas, their support is glaringly absent now that the majority of them are back home.
I hope every vet who is trying to get help and not getting it remembers this should they decide to take matters into their own hands.

.........................My take of Bush's attitude toward the troops was like : ' We ( Americans)are going to go on with our lives. We're not going to make any sacrifices ( like we did during WW2).So, make sure you protect us, run along, fight and die.'
