The decision on whether to file charges against a Norwalk police sergeant accused of assaulting his girlfriend has been delayed yet another week.

Today marks five weeks since Mansfield law director John Spon received a Richland County deputy’s investigative report on the incident. Deputies launched the probe into the alleged assault of a Huron County corrections officer after it was discovered she had a black eye.

Her daughter told a Huron County deputy she’d been assaulted by a Norwalk police officer. Spon has said he is reviewing the case.

“In this case, there are no eyewitnesses to the alleged events. Therefore, we’re left with the statements of the alleged victim,” Spon said. “What I do know, is that I do not have adequate information.”

As to the time it has taken to complete the investigation, Spon made no comment Thursday.

“Whether or not an investigation would take a day or take a month, I”m not going to make a decision until I thoroughly review it,” he said.

Though he had planned to interview the alleged assailant this week, he said he wasn’t able.

In past interviews, Spon said he had reviewed the report and interviewed the alleged victim.

Hmm, this would be a felony and the officer would not be able to carry a weapon if he is convicted.. He may be a lil partial to letting that happen, or maybe he just isnt doing his job like most of huron county officials...

TuffNutts2011

Because the witness wasn't credible.

sandusky2012

the witness was a minor so tuffnutts2011 if it was a rape victim we should let the rapist go if it is felt the one whom was raped was not credible?
