Second bomb suspect captured alive

Boston police: 'Suspect in custody'

A 19-year-old college student wanted in the Boston Marathon bombings was taken into custody Friday evening after a manhunt that left the city virtually paralyzed and his older brother and accomplice dead.

Police announced via Twitter that Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was in custody. They later wrote, "CAPTURED!!! The hunt is over. The search is done. The terror is over. And justice has won. Suspect in custody."

Tsarnaev's brother, 26-year-old Tamerlan, was killed Friday in a furious attempt to escape police.

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev had been holed up in a boat in a Watertown neighborhood. The crowd gathered near the scene let out a cheer when spectators saw officers clapping.

"Everyone wants him alive," said Kathleen Paolillo, a 27-year-old teacher who lives in Watertown.

Boston Mayor Tom Menino tweeted "We got him," along with a photo of the police commissioner speaking to him.

During a long night of violence Thursday into Friday, the brothers killed an MIT police officer, severely wounded another lawman and hurled explosives at police in a car chase and gun battle, authorities said.

The suspects were identified by law enforcement officials and family members as Dzhokhar and Tamerlan Tsarnaev, ethnic Chechen brothers who had lived in Dagestan, which neighbors Chechnya in southern Russia. They had been in the U.S. for about a decade, an uncle said, and were believed to be living in Cambridge, Mass.

Tamerlan Tsarnaev, a 26-year-old who had been known to the FBI as Suspect No. 1 and was seen in surveillance footage of the marathon in a black baseball cap, was killed overnight, officials said. His younger brother, who had been dubbed Suspect No. 2 and was seen wearing a white, backward baseball cap in the images from Monday's deadly bombing — escaped and was on the run.

Their uncle in Maryland, Ruslan Tsarni, pleaded on live television: "Dzhokhar, if you are alive, turn yourself in and ask for forgiveness."

Authorities in Boston suspended all mass transit and warned close to 1 million people in the entire city and some of its suburbs to stay indoors as the hunt for Suspect No. 2 went on. Businesses were asked not to open. People waiting at bus and subway stops were told to go home. The Red Sox and Bruins postponed their games.

From Watertown to Cambridge, police SWAT teams, sharpshooters and FBI agents surrounded various buildings as police helicopters buzzed overhead and armored vehicles rumbled through the streets. Authorities also searched trains.

"We believe this man to be a terrorist," said Boston Police Commissioner Ed Davis. "We believe this to be a man who's come here to kill people."

The bombings on Monday killed three people and wounded more than 180 others, tearing off limbs in a spray of shrapnel and instantly raising the specter of another terrorist attack on U.S. soil.

Chechnya was the scene of two wars between Russian forces and separatists since 1994, in which tens of thousands were killed in heavy Russian bombing. That spawned an Islamic insurgency that has carried out deadly bombings in Russia and the region, although not in the West.

Investigators in the Boston case have shed no light on the motive for the bombing and have said it is unclear whether it was the work of domestic or international terrorists or someone else entirely with an unknown agenda.

The endgame — at least for Suspect No. 1 — came just hours after the FBI released photos and video of the two young men at the marathon's finish line and appealed to the public for help in identifying and capturing them.

State Police spokesman Dave Procopio said police realized they were dealing with the bombing suspects based on what the two men told a carjacking victim during their getaway attempt overnight.

Sullivan and Associated Press writers Stephen Braun and Jack Gillum reported from Washington. Associated Press writers Mike Hill, Katie Zezima, Pat Eaton-Robb and Steve LeBlanc in Boston and Jeff Donn in Cambridge, Mass., contributed to this report.

Luvblues2 made some excellent comments. Many here, including myself want the entire truth. If anyone questions the "news" of any event, that person is labeled a conspiracy theorist and other names. The American people were hoodwinked by the lies that led to the Vietnam War, The Iraq War and other wars. Stop sending our young people off to wars based on lies.

I use the internet to try to find answers to major events. The American news media covers up or doesn't report the entire facts. Does anybody recall the "news" about Jessica Lynch in the first days of the Iraq War?

The FBI is holding back on some evidence such as the video showing the planting of the bomb. Where is this video and why aren't the American people demanding to see that video? Where are dash cam videos showing the suspects throwing out bombs and grenades during the chase?

What is the real reason why the Saudi national is being deported?

What happened to those unexploded bombs that were found?

Has anyone been paying attention to CISPA?
"The controversial cybersecurity Bill has passed the U.S. House and is now on its way to the Senate chamber. Privacy groups believe this tramples on the Fourth Amendment."

Why is the FBI avoiding answering the questions about why Craft International members were at the Boston Marathon? After the explosions, I noticed one Craft International member did not have his black back pack.

I and others have a lot of questions that the FBI refuses to answer.
"Leading Journalists Expose Major Corruption in Mass Media"

What happened to those cheap magnets and flags that were on many cars and trucks supporting our troops? Our troops are still fighting. Have the American people forgotten about them?

"This pattern goes back at least to the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center, in which a former Egyptian army officer, Emad Salem acting as a paid FBI informant, actually participated in building the bomb, claiming that the original plan had been to substitute harmless powder for the explosives.

Were the Boston bombings the result of such an operation that got out of control? Or did sections of the state know about it and allow it to go forward?

How the Boston Marathon bombing plot unfolded and what motives lay behind it are still not known. Only one thing is certain: whatever the source of this terrorist atrocity, it will be used by the US government as a pretext to escalate militarism abroad and repression at home."

I and others are still waiting for answers from the FBI.

"With the imposition of a state of siege in Boston, a historical threshold has been crossed. For the first time ever, a major American city has been placed under the equivalent of martial law. The already frayed veneer of a stable democracy based on constitutional principles is in shreds."

"Encouraged by the police-military mobilization, Republican senators Lindsey Graham and John McCain and New York Congressman Peter King, all of whom have close ties to the military and intelligence agencies, demanded that Tsarnaev be declared an enemy combatant and turned over to the military."

Tamerlan Tsarnaev's backpack was gray but the FBI shows a shredded black backpack. What is the FBI hiding?

Now The Rest of...

For the conspiracy crowd, put on the tinfoil hats, tune into your electrical outlets for further instructions from the mothership....

(This is probably the ONLY time I'll agree with you.)

They'll probably get better reception if they stick thier fingers into the electric outlet.

Imagine that this is your house and SWAT is looking for "terror suspects":

The last thing I remember on the night that they caught the older brother, was him lying face down with his hands spread over his head..I actually got tired of watching that for hours and fell asleep, figuring it would be on the news the next day. It wasn't. Then I see that he tried to use a gun and a bomb from that position??!! They didn't even reshow that footage. Try and find it anywhere. Centauri is not far off base here. It smells of Ruby killing Oswald before he could talk.

And no, I don't like tin foil. I prefer shrink wrap. Or zip lock baggies..

You'll get better reception.
And a wire coat hanger will do wonders.

From an expert?

I don't know... that's what the guy said.
He said it works better than shrink wrap or zip lock baggies.

"The last thing I remember on the night that they caught the older brother, was him lying face down with his hands spread over his head."

I looked for a video or photo of this suspect face down on the ground that you described and found this photo. I don't believe that it was the bombing suspect because the man on the ground appears to have brown hair.

The FBI still has not released the video showing the younger suspect setting down the bomb and walking away.

Thats the pic, Centauri. How did he get from that position to being up and firing at police with a bomb? As you said, that may not be him, but no explanation was ever given.

Scroll down to the photo showing a photo of the suspect getting out of the boat on his own.

A lot of links that I had in my favorites don't work anymore.

Here is a video but that is not the suspect.

What do you think is going on?

I saw your previous comment 4zhizzle along with the conspiracy theorist link that you changed it to a more civil comment. I used to follow your comments in the past. I won't follow your comments in the future. I have lost all respect for you and your comments.

I had a rather long comment to post with links that mentioned the video showing the suspect placing the bomb and walking away. The FBI refuses to release the video. It appears to me from reading various comments on various news sites that I am the only person in the entire United States asking the FBI to release that video. Maybe that video shows the Saudi national who is being deported placing the bomb? Once the FBI releases that video, I will then stop asking the FBI to release it.

It appears that my computer was under attack a few minutes ago. All of my open windows were closed out and not by me. I will not waste my time trying to get back all of the information that was posted online about that video that the FBI refuses to release. I will try to find one link and post it in a few minutes.

You are trolling

"Gov. Patrick: ‘Chilling’ Video Shows Bombing Suspect Drop His Bag & Take Cover"

"It does seem to be pretty clear that this suspect took the backpack off, put it down, did not react when the first explosion went off and then moved away from the backpack in time for the second explosion," Patrick remarked. "It's pretty clear about his involvement and pretty chilling, frankly."

Patrick said he hasn't actually viewed the videotape, but has been briefed by law enforcement officials about it."

WHERE IS THE VIDEO! Patrick didn't view the video yet calls it "pretty clear"

I can't find the links that I attempted to post earlier. It appears that they have vanished from the internet. The link above will have to do for now. Has anybody found the video showing the bomber placing the bomb? If so, please post a link to it.

"Video shows bomb suspect dodging blast, Mass. Gov. Deval Patrick says"

WHERE IS THE VIDEO? I don't care for baseball.

"While video of at least one suspect planting the bomb exists, the FBI had chosen not to release it, according to the official. One reason, according to the official, is that were the media to repeatedly show the suspects leaving the bomb, it might cause some people to overreact if they came into contact with them."
