Theodore R. Planten, 99, Toledo, died late Thursday evening, May 13, 2010, in Stein Hospice Care Center.
He was born in Clarksburg, W.Va., April 21, 1911. He was a life member of the Masonic Lodge. Theodore worked as a bookkeeper for Devilbiss Manufacturing Company in Toledo. He was Navy veteran serving in World War II.
Ted was an artist in the Toledo area and several of his works are represented by several well-known galleries in the Toledo Area. He was a life-member of the Masonic Lodge, Bee Hive, Toledo Museum of Art and a 50-year member of the Toledo Artist Club.
He is survived by his daughter, Susan (R. David) Riedy; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Rose Planten; and sisters, Helen Smiley and Margaret Batdorf.
Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday in Greenlawn Cemetery, Delta, Ohio.
