One person was seen being loaded onto a stretcher and placed in an ambulance. Police are taping off a section of parking lot near a gray sedan parked near the center.

(Updated 6:56 p.m.) Police believe the initial shooting occurred in the 500 block of West Perkins Avenue and the victim somehow made it to Hayes Avenue and Pierce Street. The gray sedan is a Mercury Grand Marquis. Police removed a German shepherd from the vehicle.

The victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds, police say. His condition and identity remain unknown.

(Updated 7:25 p.m.) Police are looking for two suspects believed to be involved in the shooting, a woman, Katie Wilson, and an unidentified light-skinned black man who is the suspected shooter. They are driving a red Chevy Monte Carlo.

Police said the man is armed with a revolver and should be considered dangerous.

Anyone who sees the vehicle or suspects should not approach them and should call 911 or Sandusky police (419-627-5863) immediately.

(Updated 7:38 p.m.) Police say the victim — still unidentified — suffered at minimum a gunshot wound to the chest. He is being transported by medical helicopter to a hospital in Toledo.

(Updated 7:46 p.m.) Police now say they're also searching for a black Cadillac that may be involved.

(Updated 8:09 p.m.) Police say the Grand Marquis belonged to the victim. Officers found evidence of a shot fired into the vehicle.

(Updated 8:51 p.m.) Police say the victim suffered three gunshot wounds, at least one to the chest. His condition is still unknown. Police believe the victim was shot while in a bay of the self-service car wash between Grant Street and West Perkins Avenue in the 500 block of Perkins Avenue behind the closed Big O's bar.

(Updated 12:20 a.m.) The shooting victim is Bartt Carruthers, 49, of Sandusky. He is at a Toledo hospital, but his medical condition is not immediately available. Police have also arrested Katie Wilson, 25, of Sandusky. She was arrested on a warrant, as were two other people — Theresa Purcell, 26, of Sandusky, and Desmond Scott, 43, of Sandusky. The suspected shooter remains at large, Sandusky police detectives said.

Wilson told police she does not know the shooter's identity. Detectives said the shooting is likely the result of a drug deal gone bad.

(Updated 10:50 a.m.) Police said the suspected shooter has still not been captured. Officers are speaking with witnesses this morning to obtain additional information. Bartt Carruthers, who is at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo, is alive but his condition remains unknown.

(Updated 2:51 p.m.) Police say the shooting victim, Bartt Carruthers, is recovering at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo. He has been stabilized and police investigators are on their way to the hospital to talk to him about Wednesday night's shooting.

Police are still looking for a red Monte Carlo in connection with the incident. Police say they have a "person of interest" and are actively looking for him, though they declined to provide more information about the person's identity.

Police are also interviewing Katie Wilson, who was arrested on unrelated warrants Wednesday night after the incident. Police say she has not provided information about the suspected shooter.

sunshiny,

Can you protect me from a random stray bullet? I cross that intersection everytime I visit Stein Hospice. It's too close for comfort. I volunteered to help the dying not to become one.

If you chose to live in fear, then the bad guys win. You take just as much chance walking across that same intersection of street you are talking about and getting hit by a car! Did that stop you before from volunteering?

Come on now....don't let the bad guys win because you might or might not have something bad happen to you. Live life like that and every nut in this crazy world just won. They just succeeded in robbing you blind....they stole your LIFE. Don't you let them. You cannot live in fear of "what if".

You are so very right. It is almost inconceivable how much this town has changed.

BEHAPPY

Yes, these people do not deserve to have a pet. Pets are innocent and if he can punch his mother in the face~what does he do to the dog? I'll take the dog~I hope he is not returned to his owner. Someone needs to protect the dog. Also, I agree with others~pray for the safety of our LE and firemen~WAY TOO MANY CRAZIES OUT THERE! GOD bless you all that put your lives on the line keeping us safe! ; )

Two suspects, but used the full name of only one. And Her name should not have been published. If she turns out to be person not charged for anything, attorneys will be calling her.

More gun control was really needed in this incident. Three shots and He's still alive? Not enough firepower and maybe the wrong bullets. Sandusky would be a better place if this guy were dead. Think what you want but I'd willingly throw the sitch on "Sparky".
Very few guys want to carry a 23 pound M-60 Machine Gun. When all Hell broke out, everyone wanted one. I have many guns but no Ar-15's. That being the case, I wish all my neighbors had full automatics.
This "Drug War" thing, really been successful, hasn't it? Drugs coming across our Border by the tons. Ban the guns! We are not the only country that produces guns. Guns will still find their way into the hands of the criminal element. Why just the USA? We are one of the few countries where people can afford to buy a 500 dollar gun. Drug Lords don't target poor countries like Somalia or Ethiopia so how many 500 dollar guns would be sold there? The rush to buy all the Assualt weapons wasn't to protect people from their neighbors. People are arming themselves to protect against the very people trying to take them away. Politicians realize this. This is why 1.6 billion rounds of ammunition was recently aquired for Homeland Security and such.
WERE ANY OF THOSE INVOLVED ALLOWED TO CARRY GUNS?

Weather.78

I doubt the victim was allowed to have a gun because of his lengthy past. I agree Sandusky would be a better place but as long as drugs are on these streets, I fear its going to get worse.

Factitious

Well, to be fair, you know gun sales is not just just about protection and arming militias. Because there's a bunch of money to be made, the industry promotes buying and shooting badass weapons for giggles and grins, and that promotion could be restricted under the commerce clause if Congress saw fit. But they won't, because they're for sale to special interests.

I am sure that all the shooters involved in this were members of the NRA or the local conservation league and shooting clubs. NOT! Our idiots in Washington didn't do a thing except to disarm the good guys and make them unable to defend themselves from the type of punk thugs involved with this incident. What they should have done or could have done was to make any felony committed with a gun of any nature a mandatory 10 year prison sentence automatically going to 20 years if the gun wasn't registered or was an illegal weapon or if the ammo was illegal. No opportunity for parole! You say we don't have the space in the prisons? Then solve the unemployment problem by building more and model them after the worst prisons in the world not Embassy Suites! No exercise yard, no weight lifting equipment, no basketball, and the only food source is what they raise or grow themselves. Accessories to the crime get the same sentence. I hope our Govenor has the balls Biden and Obama were lacking to get tough on these scumbags. Oh yeah, caught using an illegal substance..same sentence. Users and pushers deserve each other and should be together in prison.
