Thumbs UP for bringing it back home: Dr. Jen Collins from Bellevue and Dr. Tiffany Vassale from Republic, who went out of town for the education and training they needed to become optometrists, have opened their clinic in Bellevue. Two of many, to be sure -- but let's give the nod when we can to those who bring their talents home where they're needed.

Thumbs UP to the cooperation between Wilbert Plastic Services and the city of Bellevue that will split the cost of a power transformer to help meet the company's electricity needs at a reduced rate -- saving 30 jobs and maybe paving the way for more at the company that supplies plastic parts for major area employer Whirlpool, according to city and company officials.

A bit late, but nonetheless: Thumbs UP to the young ladies of the Huron and St. Paul volleyball teams. The Tigers are state champions in their division and the Flyers are runners-up in theirs. Both teams' paths to state glory were hard- and well-fought battles that did not disappoint their many fans.
