SANDUSKY

A Sandusky man who pleaded guilty to numerous drug charges and went missing in August has been found.

Jeffrey L. Payton was arrested Monday evening in Indianapolis on a warrant from Erie County after what Judge Roger Binette said he understood to be a routine traffic stop.

Payton was out on a bond secured by Mayo Bail Bonds & Surety when he failed to appear for an Aug. 31 sentencing hearing. At a hearing Thursday afternoon, Binette decided not to revoke Payton’s $250,000 bond now that he is in custody. He said the main objective was to bring Payton back into the  courtroom.

Payton signed a waiver allowing him to be brought back to Erie County sometime before Nov. 17.

He will be picked up at the Marion County Sheriff’s office in Indianapolis by Erie County Sheriff’s deputies.
