The best place to be if you're looking for up-to-the-minute election results Tuesday evening is sanduskyregister.com.
"Decision 2009, Live from the Newsroom" will broadcast live from 5-11 p.m. at the Register's Web site, and will feature one-on-one interviews with candidates.
Managing editor Matt Westerhold, who will anchor the news desk, said the live coverage is innovative, and Web site viewers will get updates on the results in addition to insight from candidates awaiting the final tallies.
"We'll start the evening with Sandusky city commissioner Craig Stahl and end it with commission candidate Kim Nuesse and school board candidate Richard Koonce," Westerhold said. "It's our maiden voyage into long format live coverage from inside the newsroom, but we've got a good plan laid out."
Vote count updates and interviews also will come in live from reporters stationed in Ottawa and Huron counties, and Perkins Township trustees Bill Dwelle and Tim Coleman, and challenger Mike Printy talk with the Register's Jason Werling live from the Erie County Board of Elections.
Sandusky fire Chief Mike Meinzer and firefighter Adam Butler will be in the newsroom to talk about the city's income tax levy and what comes next after voters make their decisions, and city commissioners Dan Kaman and Dave Waddington will be here to offer their views as the results start coming in. There also will be live remotes from reporters talking with voters from across the region.
"If you want to be the first to know, be sure to be at sanduskyregister.com from 5-11 Tuesday evening," Westerhold said.
