RIPLEY TWP

A Willard man was killed in a two-vehicle crash late Thursday night at the intersection of Boughtonville and Old State roads.

Dustin York, 20, 142 U.S. 224, was driving south on Old State Road in a 1994 Nissan Sentra just before 11 p.m. when he failed to stop at a stop sign and was struck by a 2000 GMC Sierra driven by Kyle Griffin, 23, 314 Crestwood Dr., Willard. Both vehicles came to a rest off the southwest corner of the intersection.

York was pronounced dead at the scene and was taken to Secor's Funeral Home in Willard. He was wearing his shoulder belt but not his lap belt. It is not known whether alcohol was a factor, according to the Norwalk post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Griffin suffered non-incapacitating injuries and refused treatment at the scene. He was wearing his seat belt and had not been drinking, troopers said.

The Nissan Sentra sustained severe damage and was towed from the scene by Clark Brothers. The GMC Sierra sustained moderate front-end damage and was also towed by Clark Brothers. Troopers were assisted at the scene by North Central EMS, the Huron County Sheriff's office and Tri County Fire Department.

The crash remains under investigation.
