Justice is swift here in Erie County. Authorities apprehend a suspect in a robbery, and, within hours, the Register has indicted, tried, and convicted him on its front page, with the headline, "Strawberry Hill Robber Caught."
In either Journalism 101 or Civics 101, your choice, an early lesson is that a person is presumed innocent until proved guilty in a court of law. The suspect may be guilty as sin; it just that it takes a court and a judge to decide.
"Strawberry Hill suspect caught" would have been less sensational, but more accurate.
