On recent television commercials, United Auto Workers endorsed Ohio Issue 3 to allow casino gambling in the state of Ohio. They cited the 34,000 jobs it would supposedly create as their main reason for backing the issue.

However, when the issue is looked at a little closer, you realize 19,000 of those jobs are temporary construction jobs, meaning that once the casino construction Is done in a few years, all those jobs will be gone. Ohio Issue 3 will benefit only a few specific industries in Ohio, in only four of our major cities.

Advocates of Issue 3 state that the majority of the taxes will benefit local governments when realistically, only eight percent of the taxes will be divided among the 88 counties, leaving each county with about a 10th of a percent of the taxes. It is estimated that if passed, Issue 3 would create 109,000 new gambling addicts. Essentially, by passing Issue 3, we would be ruining the lives of over hundred thousand people and in the process, putting millions and millions of dollars in the pockets of the casino owners. Vote "No" on Ohio Issue 3!
