SANDUSKY

Three vacant Sandusky Schools buildings will be up for auction at noon Oct. 24 at the Madison building, 910 W. Madison St.

District officials hope to avoid heating and maintaining the Barker, Campbell and Madison buildings this winter, and sales would boost the general fund.

Board member Tracey Shoemo said he wants to see nonprofit or government agencies in the buildings to help Sandusky and doesn't want to risk another building being turned into a for-profit venture like the Sycamore School-turned-apartments.

Barbara Clark, president of the Sandusky chapter of the NAACP, wants more discussion "with regard to how Madison School can be saved to better serve all of the city's children," she wrote.
