Three men who robbed a Cleveland Road Howard Johnson Express Inn at gunpoint Wednesday morning apparently didn't stop there.

Police confirmed the same men robbed a Lorain drugstore about an hour later.

The trio, described as black men in their late 20s or early 30s, entered a Walgreens on Leavitt Road in Lorain at about 6 a.m. One of the men put a gun to the head of a male customer, then took him to a closet while another man cleared out the cash register, Lorain police Det. Dennis Moskal said.

No arrests have been made. Police did not disclose how much money was stolen in the robberies but estimated it was several hundred dollars in each crime.

In the robbery of the Howard Johnson, the men entered the lobby just after 5 a.m., armed with handguns, and ordered a clerk to empty the cash drawer. They took the clerk into a back office, where they bound her wrists and legs with duct tape before fleeing.

The clerk said the three men had stayed at the Howard Johnson prior to robbing it.

"One of the guys kept saying he was doing it for his daughter," said the clerk, who asked that her name be withheld. "Can you tell him I have a 3-year-old daughter?"

Both robberies remain under investigation, police said.
