Obama wins

President Barack Obama has won Ohio again, capturing the swing state after a hard-fought battle with Republican Mitt Romney.

Obama, who also won Ohio in 2008, claims the swing state's 18 electoral votes.

Both sides poured major time and resources into the battleground state that has been among the nation's most contested in recent presidential elections. It was considered pivotal for both.

No Republican has won the White House without Ohio. The last president elected despite losing Ohio was Democrat John F. Kennedy in 1960.

Ohio has been site of much of the advertising spending by the campaigns and outside supporters. It also was among the most-visited states by the campaigns.

In addition to Ohio, Obama captured battleground states Iowa and Colorado on his way to the 270 electoral votes he needed.

Obama will again be dealing with a divided Congress. Democrats maintained control of the Senate and Republicans likely will again control the House. Among the most pressing matters is the so-called fiscal cliff of tax hikes and spending cuts scheduled to hit in January. Economists have warned that if they aren't averted, the nation could face another recession.

@ OSUBuckeye59:

Speaker Boehner offered to work with Pres. Obama on the fiscal cliff.

Reads like a return to Simpson-Bowles or TRA86.

The question is: Will Mr. Obama compromise?

If not, political gridlock is gonna be nasty for next two or more yrs.

BTW: The rumor is that Rep. Pelosi will lose her position as House Minority Leader over the election results.

Both Speaker Boehner and President Obama have publicly staked their claims, but in the end, they both have to agree to a compromise. If Boehner says he's offering to work with Obama, then that means he better be prepared to compromise. So the question is not if Obama will compromise, the question is if *BOTH* Speaker Boehner and President Obama will compromise?

I hope Speaker Boehner DOES, this time, actually willingly compromise as will Obama, to get things done. Because frankly, at the first sign of ANY of the signs of the Senate and House "melt-downs" of last year, where impasses were done for the sake of impasses that were done just because of "party politics" there are going to be 'grass root' recall petitions for key players who stagnate the government operations this time.

We, the people, are getting sick and tired of watching this government freeze up over political party politics that stalls this government time and time again while we suffer out here because our ELECTED officials fail to act. They are elected to act on OUR behalves and when they get to Washington they forget who they work for. They do not work for their parties, they work for us.

This time they shall be reminded of that fact.

Couldn't agree with you more. Tough part is that once the Senator or Representative gets elected into office, they get all the perks of the office, and not just the pay but the retirement package. In the private sector when an employee doesn't perform to expectations or doesn't successfully meet the agreed-to objectives, there are repercussions, up to and including termination. In Congress, how do we really measure performance? A Senator or Representative can say they worked on a committee or introduced specific legislation but unless the elected official is found to have committed some criminal offense or were caught canoodling with someone underage or other than their spouse, the elected official usually gets re-elected. Again I ask: where's the accountability?

I'm not advocating a system where the process makes it such that an elected official could be ousted from office so quickly that nobody would want to run for office, but there has got to be a better system than what we have today where our elected officials all seem to cater to their party and lobbyists. We the People cannot afford our Country to be driven off the fiscal cliff.

To whom it may concern:
Obama and Romney have the same foreign policy (more war) and the same monetary policy (more power and secrecy for the Fed Reserve to collapse the dollar).
This race should have been between Ron Paul and Dennis Kucinich, to determine the greater of two goods. I guess we can thank every person who vomited lies upon the threads of Ron Paul bloggers from 2007-2012, to smear him (as well as those who smeared Kucinich in the 2008 elections).

We tried to tell you many, many times during our unyielding blog campaign for Ron Paul. And you chose to believe, and recite, the smear campaign..when even a modest amount of research would have proven the "Ron Paul is a racist" and "Ron Paul wants to dismantle the Government" claims were just as untruthful as they were ridiculously unrealistic.
Just as unrealistic as "Romney will ban Abortion in 2012," even tho he would've had no means available to do so.

I imagine that it will take at least 4 more years of blogging to get a majority of voters to see how Rand Paul 2016 is the best hope for a comeback for America. Hopefully you will not do, from 2012-2016 with Rand Paul bloggers, as you have done with the Ron Paul bloggers from 2007-2012.

Hopefully, from here on out, you will fully investigate all claims. Assuming we still have elections by 2016..or a Constitution, for that matter. Economic collapse (whether real or perceived) has a way of changing peoples and nations, ya know. Have you supporting things you swore you never would, and previously dismissed as even ridiculous to suggest it could ever happen.

Keep this post in mind on the road to 2016. And be sure to watch Obama's actions just as closely as we would have watched Romney's actions. Don't do the same thing you did from 2008-2012..which was to kick back and pay little to no attention until election year, when it was too late to catch up on all the info.

The Big Dog's back

rand paul? Just what we need is a nutcase.

Rand Paul is "a nutcase?"
Do you have anything to say of any substance, that might back up such a claim?

John Harville

I do. He claims to be devoted to the Libertarian standard - but doesn't have the 'nuts' to run as a Libertarian so says things like 'we are here to take back our country'..

John. I said "of substance." Not vague generalities.

Ok, I will bite. Technically, Libertarians are what Republicans used to be. When he says "taking our country back" he means, not just the country but, taking the Republican party back..to it's roots, before the Democrats pushed it into it's current state.
By that, I mean that the more Democrats pushed for centralized planning and power, the more the Repubicans had to push back with the same.

Isn't that Obama's message, tho? He claims he is taking the country back for the middle class? Emphasis on "claims."

Can hardly wait to know what Donald Trump's BIG news about our CIC is. (Never trust a man with a comb-over. Its displays vanity.)

What good does it do him to keep spreading crap at this point? He is already elected. Please Don, go fire someone, would you? You rich people love to fire people.

Of couse Obama won. All you had to do was look at the Electoral map to see he had the much better chance of winning the 270 electoral votes! He had an 81% chance off winning by some counts. You republicans were fooling your selves if you though it would be close.

John Harville

Mandate... won 8 of the 9 must-win 'battleground' states as declared by the Republicans. Amazingly, some high-ranking Republicans are saying this could signal the end of the Republican Party - was THAT the intent of the Tea Party? hmmmmmmmmmmmm.

All you people reading this who decry Obama and the fact that nothing gets done in DC, should tell the elected Republicans that this is how it is for the next four years, get to working with your president, and tackle some of the issues instead of letting the people who voted for you down!

BTW Donald Trump is the Dems secret weapon, : )

Uh, I heard the Senate Democrats have killed, on arrival, every bill (over 30 bills now) that the House passed, since 2010, on jobs and the economy.
Wake up. From the looks of it, the Democrats have been working on collapsing the economy ever since they got control of Congress in 2006..to finish what they started with their Housing Crisis during the Clinton years.

You can stop now. We know you hate Capitalism and "the Zionists..."
We know you are pushing the Cloward-Piven strategy. We get it.
Maybe we should just sit back and not vote and let you have at it. The only way you will ever learn is if we let you have your way, so you can finally watch it collapse as we predicted it would.

John Harville

@verdict. Uh. You heard wrong. The Republicans in the Senate invoked the filibuster 159 times 2009-the present to keep bills from receiving an upordown vote.
Wake up! Mitch McConnell set the Number One Priority of the 112th Senate to make sure Obama didn't get a second term.
From the first filibuster in 1919 until 1966 the filibuster was used only four times. Since 1960 there have been 874 filibusters - 371 since January 2009.

@John Harville. Nothing in your post negates what I said.
I am saying that Democrat Senators killed House Republicans' job/economic bills upon arrival in the Senate..and you are saying Republican Senators filibustered Democrat Senators' anti-American, anti-Capitalist Cloward-Piven strategy recklessness : P

Both are true.

No, he's a black Christian lover.

Actually, he plays both sides of that fence..and plays everyone else, as well. Nothing but a player. Good luck with that.

Romney was nothing but a liar. I'm very glad he lost.

John Harville

Ya know... your comment is lonely without its 'removed' inspiration substituting an Islamic word...

There you go again

Ya, did you see the movie "Dreams from my REAL Father?". It shows more about Obama that you will ever want to hear!

11/07/2012 - 3:20pm
"Dude. Ron Paul's Audit the Fed bill passed the House in a landslide (with bipartisan support)." Good comment. I will post a couple of links so that the people will see it. Some people refuse to look at the truth even if you show it to them.

Wed, 11/07/2012 - 8:45pm "Obama and Romney have the same foreign policy (more war) and the same monetary policy (more power and secrecy for the Fed Reserve to collapse the dollar). This race should have been between Ron Paul and Dennis Kucinich, to determine the greater of two goods. I guess we can thank every person who vomited lies upon the threads of Ron Paul bloggers from 2007-2012, to smear him (as well as those who smeared Kucinich in the 2008 elections)." Another good comment. The corporations, super rich and the powers that be didn't want Ron Paul or Dennis Kucinich. Imagine a Republican and Democrat working together to solve this nation's problems. The propaganda machine run by the corporations has fooled the people into believing BS. The people have been brain washed. I sure hope that Obama will not start another war based on lies with the help of the CIA. Which parents, wives, husbands, siblings and others want to send their loved ones off to a war overseas and have them come back in caskets all because of a war based again on lies? In the 1960s, there was no internet and news sources outside of this country could not be accessed. Now with the internet, people have the choice (if they want to) to read news sources from outside of this country's propaganda machine.

"But Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-Ohio) pointed out that the House vote on the bill comes on the same day that the Washington Post reported that the New York Fed "did not communicate in key meetings with top regulators that British bank Barclays had admitted to Fed staffers that it was rigging LIBOR,” the index which sets interest rates worldwide."

I would think that the biggest thing to come out of the run for President in this election is that the Republican party needs to learn that America has changed. They can no longer afford to listen to the beat of the old drum but need to learn to face the TRUE America which up to now they have failed to recognize. If anything lost them this election it was that. They failed to put their fingers on the pulse of this country and it cost them the election because they were too busy trying to figure out what America is NOW. They missed it by a mile and a half. I hope, instead of listening to their OLD advisors, they take on new and fresh minded ones who tell them the TRUTH about what America really has become, not what they THINK it is. Perhaps then, and only then, will they win the Presidency back. Otherwise, in four years, they will face still another defeat at the hands of the Democrats again...this time it may be by another Clinton.

Big brother on steroids!

"WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) — A bill authored by Rep. Ron Paul that would open up previously secret Federal Reserve deliberations to scrutiny by members of Congress passed the House of Representatives on Wednesday, but the measure faces long odds in the Senate."

I watched a lil bit of Rushy going meltdown today. That guy better go Dr. shopping again for his pain meds before he has a heart attack. LOL.

PS. I didn't vote for Obama or Romney, but I sure like to watch Rushy's BP spike to the point he almost passes out.

There you go again

Democrats, your prayers have been answered--Obama phones for everyone!
