BAY TOWNSHIP

A Port Clinton man remains in the hospital after suffering injuries in a one-vehicle crash.

Branden M. Ramsey, 24, 4625 E. Bayshore Road, was driving a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado west on Darr-Hopfinger Road and veered off the road while steering along a curve, striking a utility pole.

The crash is still under investigation, and alcohol is considered to be a factor.

Troopers from the Sandusky post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol responded just before 6 p.m.

The roadway was closed at the intersection of Darr-Hopfinger and Mulcahy roads because utility wires were down across the roadway.

Ramsey was taken by North Central EMS to the Magruder Hospital emergency room and later taken by medical helicopter to St. Vincent’s Mercy Medical Center in Toledo.  A hospital spokeswoman said no condition was listed late Tuesday night because he had just been admitted.

His front-seat passenger, Matthew M. Williams, 21, 56 N. Bertchen Road, Port Clinton, did not require medical attention.
