VERMILION TWP.

A Huron woman was flown to MetroHealth Medical Center with serious injuries after her car went off U.S. 6 in Vermiiion Township, according to the Norwalk Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Shelbi Reineck, 20, 536 Wilder Ave., Huron, was flown directly from the scene to MetroHealth after the accident at 2:33 a.m. today (May 2), troopers said.

Troopers said Reineck was driving east on U.S. 6 in a 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier when she left the road, lost control in regaining the road and left the road again, striking a tree.

Also injured were:

Mark Phelps, 27, 527 Berlin Road Apt. C., front-seat passenger, taken by North Central EMS to Community Health Partners in Lorain with minor injuries;

Brandon Burnworth, 33, 131 N. Compass Drive, Vermilion, back left-seat passenger, taken by NCEMS to Community Health Partners with "incapacitating" injuries;

Thor Tallman, 29, 329 N. Lake St., South Amherst, back middle-seat passenger, taken by NCEMS to Community Health Partners with "incapacitating" injuries;

Stephen Hall Jr., 30, 105 S. Compass Drive, Vermilion, back right-seat passenger, taken by NCEMS to Community Health Partners with "incapacitating" injuries;

Phelps was wearing his seatbelt and the three rear-seat passengers were not, troopers said.

Troopers were assisted at the scene by Erie County Sheriff’s Department, North Central EMS, MedEvac Life Flight, Vermillion Township Fire Department, and L & M Towing.

The crash remains under investigation.
