SALEM TOWNSHIP

An Oak Harbor man was seriously hurt after crashing his motorcycle late Saturday, state troopers said.

Douglas A. Fillmore, 36, of 860 South Green Bayou Road, Oak Harbor, was taken to Fremont Memorial Hospital, then flown to St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo after the 11:31 p.m. crash, according to troopers from the Sandusky Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Fillmore lost control of his Honda Shadow VT-750 on a curve on County Road 17, east of Ohio 19, near Oak Harbor in Salem Township, and was thrown from the motorcycle. Both Fillmore and the bike landed in a ditch, trooper said.

Fillmore, who suffered cuts and a possible shoulder injury, was not wearing a helmet. Alcohol and unsafe speed are suspected as factors, troopers said. Blood alcohol results are pending.
