Playgrounds are supposed to be safe, pristine places where children can enjoy a few hours of fun and frolicking.
Parents who go to playgrounds in Sandusky, however, might find themselves explaining the definition of some dreaded four-letter words.
At local city parks, vulgar words sprayed crudely in black on slides and jungle gyms are a common site.
"It makes it uncomfortable for the customer," said Steve Dice, director of Erie MetroParks. "You'll be at a park somewhere with your niece or nephew ... and they'll ask, 'What does that mean?'"
