"We had a heavy manufacturing base in the area, that is quickly eroding. Loss of manufacturing in this country is dangerous. Should war ever break out in this country we will have no where to manufacture anything. The thought of surviving on tourism makes me sick. Low wages, no retirement, most with no health care. We should serve those who have a livable paycheck that allows them to vacation? Globalization has done no favors."

"People forget that only manufacturers can supply military goods in case war breaks out. American car companies were there when the United States called to supply the war effort. ... Will the area tourist industry supply the needed goods in time of war? Can you imagine water parks, amusement parks or our own government which is too fat and wasteful, contribute to the war effort? I don't believe that a water park making up water balloons will help any war effort. ..."

"I think Sandusky City Schools are taking a prudent move. Getting a levy passed is not going to happen in this economic climate. Also if enrollment is declining why should a levy be approved by the voters to keep schools open that are not necessary. ..."

"From what this sounds like, the specifications were written such that fair competition was eliminated. Too often specifications are written with the assistance of representation from a company or trade organization that would benefit the most. Mr. Gunner made the correct decision as awarding this to the low and only bidder under proprietary-favorable conditions would have eventually been challenged and overturned in court."

"I wouldn't be surprised if all the schools close at some point or only people with money will be able to send their kids to school. You won't have to worry about home values as you'll be living in a tent, or a car if you're lucky, however, paying for gas might be difficult...."

Hang on to that shopping cart your kid borrowed to keep your stuff in. The grocery stores won't need them when they run out of food cuz the truckers went on strike."

"Remember when they said that if we vote to allow the lottery into Ohio that it would give money to our schools and would make them better? Now they want us to vote yes to allow gambling in Ohio too. What else do we have to loose?"
